Front door sill replacement cost

The wooden sill under our front door has rotted through, the house is 1950s. Might be original? A joiner has quoted £180 to cut it out and fit a new hardwood one. Is that reasonable or a bit steep?

Very reasonable. I would price £250 for the job. The hardwood sill would be £40-£60, collection of the sill. Any residual work required on the sill I.e cutting and sanding. Removal of old sill, and any making good around it. At £180 they are very reasonable indeed.

Thats a good price hardwood is not cheap and takes more work to cut and fit to correct dimensions plus call out and removal of old sill cleaned and resealed

No that is fine as it’s sounds a bit underpriced don’t forget he has to get and cut the wood to fit your frame plus take the old one out and despose of.

to cut out properly and refit with all making good is a days work so yes it is a good price

This is a good price  especially if your Doors got wood rot because that needs to be repaired as well
