How to remove fitted wardrobes

The built in wardrobes in our bedroom are dated and we want them gone. Are they screwed to the wall, will it wreck the plaster?

May just be a couple of screws and plugs holding it to the wall, if so they should be able to be removed and the holes filled leaving no real damage.

Unfortunately sometimes they do. The best way I find is scoring the edge touching the plaster with a utility knife. This tends to break the contact point therefore allowing them to come away with minimal damage.

In most cases yes they're probably screwed to the wall. Without seeing it directly I cant comment on the amount of damage but in the best case scenario you'll have a reasonable amount making good to do. Start from the inside with some exploratory demolition to gauge the best and least desrructive way of removing.

Hi Catherine,

It will depend how they are removed , but if done correctly there should be minimum damage hopefully just the screw holes to be filled , do you know if the walls are plasterboard or brick ?

Possibly fitted internally with brackets on the inside.

Or Screw directly to wall(s)

Job not too difficult once sealing is removed if any.

Yes they will be screwed to the wall , the holes will need filling , once you have removed the furniture
