How to remove kitchen kickboards

There's a leak under the kitchen units and I need the kickboards off to see it. Do they clip out or are they screwed in?

They should be clipped on,so just try to pull gently the top edge towards you

They should just clip in, so find an edge and pull. Depending on age of clips they might break off but cheap enough on Amazon. Might want to look for screw holes on edge of cupboard about 60mm inwards from door edge. Just in case but general rule of thumb they should just be clipped

The best thing to do is use an Allen key and a pair of pliers. Insert the Allen key, turn it to the six o’clock position, then grip it with the pliers and pull. This should release it and allow you to carefully pull the kickboard plinth off

Hi Grag, kickboards are clicked in to the legs of the units. A good pull usually works. In some instances they can be more tricky and handy trick is to apply some frog tape to the face of the kickboard with the tape overlapping each piece of tape with roughly 6 inches by 4 inches of tape applied. Then use mitre glue and setting spray to glue a small piece of timber to the tape you have applied this will allow you something to pull on to release them from the clips. Hope this helps

They are normally clipped in which should allow them to be removed and refitted very easily

Easy the kitchen plinth should have 5 /10 mm gap at the top and you just need to put pressure and pull

Most modern kitchen kickboards, also called plinths, are held onto the cabinet legs by plastic clips rather than screws. Start at one end and gently pull the top edge forward, working gradually along its length. A suction cup or a carefully used hooked tool can help, but avoid levering against the cabinet or flooring because the board can chip.

Check first for screws, silicone, corner trims or end panels holding it in place. Dishwasher plinths and older fitted kitchens may use different fixings. As there is a leak, turn off the relevant water supply first, and isolate the electricity if water is close to sockets, appliances or wiring.
